Italian Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Tender meatballs, slowly simmered in rich tomato sauce, the kind of dish that fills the kitchen with warmth and the table with stories.
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley

Salt & cracked pepper
For the sauce:
- 700g tomato passata
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh oregano
- 1 garlic clove
- Fresh basil
Method
- In a bowl, combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, garlic and parsley. Season well and roll into small meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan and brown the meatballs gently on all sides.
- Add garlic and passata, then simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens and the meatballs become tender.

Finish with fresh basil and extra parmesan.
